Plate waste is the food that isn't eaten by the diner at the end of their meal and typically accounts for up to 25% of total food waste. KnoWaste reduces this waste as it visualises the resource costs of each meal creating more waste-conscious individuals. It also allows diners to receive their preferred meal option increasing satisfaction with the catering service.
Overproduction waste is the excess food produced for a catering service and typically accounts for 35-45% of total food waste. Our pre-order system collects the exact number of each meal choice that needs to be prepared reducing overproduction waste by up to 90%.
Spoilage waste is the food that doesn't end up being used during the production process and typically accounts for 8% of total food waste. With the data collected from our pre-order system, KnoWaste will automatically order the exact quantities of ingredients required for each meal. Preventing any over or under ordering and minimising spoilage waste.
